The Windows

"The Windows" is an art project initiated by Shaghayegh Cyrous on April 24, 2020, during the global crisis and quarantine due to the COVID-19 virus and its presence.
As we entered this era, we faced the unusual and mandatory shelter in place for protecting ourselves and our loved one all around the world. These unexpected changes in our life have significantly impacted our daily life routine but, more importantly, the way we communicate with each other. As human beings, we are a social species, and communication through our senses is one of the primary keys to our survival, which is currently manipulated by the virus. This project explores archives and showcases your views using two of your senses (sight and hearing). The project is seeking 30 seconds video of a window that you are looking at daily.

What did the outside become to us in the months we were quarantined? Through views from windows collected from all over the world, Iranian artist Shaghayegh Cyrous continues on her years-long investigation of the possibilities and politics of relating over distances that can’t be physically crossed.
